Renovated Bristol Property

Through our empathy for, and our understanding of, buildings, we work with very bones of your house - your windows, your doors, your walls, your floors - making them as good as they ever were, and just as beautiful.

We'd love to show you how much we care about this all, how important it is to work directly with our clients on every detail, and how much knowledge, experience and imagination we bring to each project.

We don't just rebuild your house. We bring it back to life.

One client brought us a beautiful but dilapidated stained glass window he never thought could be repaired. We not only got it re-soldered back into its original shape and looking amazing, we sealed it in a contemporary double-glazed unit and used it during his reconstruction in a key point in the hallway, creating a fantastic feature - not only beautiful but practical as well.

Floors

One floor we worked with was uneven, as it had originally run between two different rooms at slightly different heights. The client had been given quotes to lay new boards over parts of the floor or put in a step between the two heights. Instead we took up the whole floor, levelled it underneath and re-laid the original boards, fully restored, over the top, with slivers of matching wood laid to fill in the gaps between some of the planks. The result? A flawless, perfectly smooth finish the client had not dreamed of.

One renovation client was looking to make good an entire ground floor, but had come across some crumbling walls. We realised they were made of a low-grade lime construction, so while we didn’t want to tear down the traditional materials we had to complete the work safely and in keeping. We developed a new semi-lime plaster and took down only as much of the original as was threatening the house structure, restoring and replacing the rest. The result - a beautiful house, as close to the original as possible, but offering a modern, professional finish that could be safely decorated.

About Square One

Kieron didn't come to this point in his life via traditional college/building apprenticeship routes. He'd followed various passions around the world, tried a few different things from bar work to music to travel, and spent a long time as a professional model-maker working with tiny, intricate detail and accuracy. And he fell into the world of construction almost by chance when he wanted a change of direction (and his money ran out).

But he stood out on any site very quickly because of his attention to detail, his craftsmanship. He came to realise he had a flair for reconstucting things, he was interested in how things were originally constructed and found his dexterity with intricate objects took him down a new path.

Jim brings to any project a creative eye. He's a working artist with an instinct for layout and form that takes the direction of any project in harmony with a room's shape and size and in keeping with its history.

The rest of the team is formed of trusted craftsmen, builders, decorators, restorers and project managers, each is brought in at the right time for a project and contributes something from his or her own expertise.
